Becoming Well-Rounded

Happy spring everyone! I just returned from my New York trip and am currently on spring break in Las Vegas! I promise I will have a new post soon about these experiences but for now, I'm going to write about what's really been on my mind.

Recently, I've been experiencing a lot of new cultures and activities I wouldn't have known about without my travels. Because of this, I have decided to try and take up or learn some of these skills to help myself become a more rounded person! Here are some of the things I am planning on starting at some point:

1- Kickboxing

I know I talked about taking kickboxing classes in a past entry, but now they are becoming a reality! I plan to begin my kickboxing classes at some point near the end of March or beginning of April. What inspired kickboxing you may ask? Well, I have always found martial arts interesting, especially after my family had a Rocky movie marathon (I even named my car Rocky after those movies). What really got the ball rolling, though, was my trip to New York. I will have more details on this trip later but in short, I absolutely fell in love with this city and if I plan on coming back by myself someday, I will need some physical strength.

2- Baking

I honestly have always loved baking, even if I'm not that good at it. However, when my group went to a little french bakery right outside Central Park, I fell in love with idea of someday having my own little bakery in the city. This will probably never be a reality for me because I'm not that great of a chef, but I still want to try and experiment with recipes and see if I can create something on my own!

3- Aerial Silks

Y'all, this ones pretty new and pretty random. It honestly became one of my wishes a couple hours ago. Basically, my family just went to a Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas which featured acrobats on silks. It was freaking awesome. They would've had to have some extreme upper body strength to pull themselves up those things! Now, I am seriously lacking in the stength department so this would help me gain some muscle!

4- Writing

Okay so technically a blog is writing but its not the type of writing I'm talking about. I'm talking about full on, lengthy, novel writing. My friends and I have always talked about trying to write a joint book together but have never found the time to do so. I would love to try and collaborate with them again or try and make something of my own.

5- Photography

Photography is something I have always kind of dabbled in. Sadly, as I have grown up other things in my life have taken over my interests. I still am in charge of taking pictures on all of our vacations and snap a cool picture every now and then, but I would like to embrace it even more.

6- All the other stuff I do

On top of all of this, I will continue piano, tennis, and drawing/painting. I really wish I could sing because music has become something I highly enjoy, but it seems the vocal talent went to my brother. I might try and pick ukulele up again but I'm not putting it at priority.

Now, you must be thinking, "this girl is so spoiled. Is she expecting her parents to pay for all of this?" Answer- no. I am not. My parents have blessed me in so many ways and given me so many opportunities in life. There is no way I could possibly say thank you enough times to them. So, as soon as I can I will try and find a job so I can pay my own way in some of these activities. I will also continue to sell my paintings as a means of making money. It will probably be a slow process for me to try all of the things I listed but I am hoping they help me become a more well-rounded person! I mean how cool would it be to meet someone new and when they're all like "tell me about yourself" you can be like "Well, I play piano, play tennis, paint, draw, bake, kickbox, do aerial silks, play ukulele, do photography, and am an author"? I think that would be pretty amazing.
