Ineffable

Good evening everyone! Recently, I decided to change the name of this blog from 'Kaylen's Explorations' to 'Ineffable Adventure'. Personally, I didn't mind my original name, but a few of my close friends told me it needed work. Let me tell you, coming up with a blog name is near impossible. It took me DAYS to think of a new name. It eventually got to a point where I sort of gave up and asked my friends for help. As much as I love them, they were pretty much useless. They shot down every single idea I had and didn't bring anything to the table. That is until I found a Buzzfeed article with a list of the most beautiful words in the English language. There were many words I fell in love with. 'Aurora', for example, meaning 'dawn'. Or there was 'Petrichor' which meant 'the pleasant, earthy smell after rain'.

Although these words made my heart happy, they didn't fit the direction this blog was going in. Eventually, I stumbled upon the word 'Ineffable'. Ineffable is an adjective meaning "incapable of being expressed or described in words; inexpressible". This word struck me. It reminded me of the feeling I get when I reach the beauty at the end of a hike, the view from the top of a mountain, the excitement I feel when getting ready to hop on a plane. I absolutely fell in love with this word.

Then came the second half of the name. Ineffable is an adjective so it had to be describing something. The first thing that came to my mind was exploration because that was part of the original name. But, it didn't seem to flow and was kind of a mouthful. Once again, I was stumped. I had already filled my friends on the 'ineffable' half of the name and they seemed to like it. They began offering up ideas of other words I could include- imperfect, experience, wonders- words that would make a good second half to the part I already had. Eventually, I received a text that read "ineffable adventure". Right when I read it, I knew I liked it. I sent it out to a couple people and they all seemed to like it too. We all agreed that 'adventure' fit this blog and my thoughts. Although this is technically a travel blog and my vacations are certainly adventures, I also write about my life on here. Not to get all hippy on you, but life is sort of its own adventure. You never know what's coming next, what obstacle you must face. There are good times, bad times, times of mistake and times of achievement.

Our lives are our adventures and I think 'Ineffable' is a great way to describe how indescribable they truly are.
